History and Culture trip to Rajshahi will explore some ancient architecture, archaeological heritage and culture of Rajshahi area. On this three-day trip, you will visit Kusumba mosque, Tribal village, Puthia Temple City, Natore Rajbari, Uttara Ganabhaban, flea markets, Varendra Research Museum and the silk industry. Your guide will also offer you a country boat cruise on the Ganges River (Padma) River at its entrance, walking along a primitive char village and morning bazaar, with mud architecture.
Nestled in the western region of Bangladesh, Rajshahi boasts a vibrant heritage that stretches back centuries, making it a haven for history enthusiasts and cultural aficionados. No journey to Rajshahi is complete without a tranquil boat ride along the serene Padma River, where you can witness the breathtaking sunset casting its golden hues upon the water. Rajshahi is famous for its fine silk, luscious mango, litchis and magnificent architectural landmarks. The city’s clean streets and green surroundings have always welcomed discriminating tourists. There are 270 varieties of mangoes grown in the Rajshahi area during the season between May to September but most of them are available in June and July. Some popular mangoes of this region are Govindobhog, GopalBhog, Gulabkhash, Brindabani, Himshagor or Khirshapat, Lengra, Haribhanga, Lakkhanbhog, Surjopuri, Fazli, Mohonbhog, Amrupoli, Ashini etc. They differ from one another in size, shape and taste. Rajshahi is also famous for some characteristic sweetmeats, Roshkodom, Raghobshahi, Khaja and Kachagolla, not to be found anywhere else in Bangladesh.
Puthia Palace is one of the finest examples of old-style architectural magnificence. It has a number of temples that used to be the center for worship by the local Hindu community. Puthia is located about 32km to the east of Rajshahi City and one km from the Dhaka – Rajshahi highway.
This region opens its gates to those who are amazed by its archaeologically important sites as well as various tasty foods.

Day 01: Kushumba Mosque, Paharpur UNESCO world heritage site, cruise on Ganges River, local life and culture around Rajshahi
Your guide and driver will come to pick you up from your place and transfer you to Dhaka domestic airport to avail of the morning flight to Rajshahi. Upon arrival at Rajshahi Airport, meet your driver and drive to the Kusumba mosque. This mosque is one of the last examples of the finest stone works in Bengal. Sulaiman built it in 966 A. H. (1558 A.D) during the reign of Ghiyasud-din Bahadur Shah (Journal, Asiatic Society of Bengal; Vol. LXX, pt. I, 1904. P. 117. J.N. Sarkar, History of Bengal, Vol. II, p.180). The mosque is built of brick faced with stone both inside and outside, except for the arches, domes, and roof. The interior of this mosque is divided into two aisles and three bays by stone pillars, which support six hemispherical domes on the roof. Octagonal corner towers, triple curved cornice and bands of horizontal moldings on the façade, a well-designed ladies' gallery at the northwest corner, and three ornamented mihrabs on the western wall make this mosque worth visiting. Continue driving towards Paharpur UNESCO World Heritage Site, the highest Buddhist stupe south of the Himalayas. Lunch will be served by a local family near the site. If you are interested, we may visit some tribal villages in Paharpur, in that case may have to skip the Ganges river cruise. Drive back towards Rajshahi town. A country boat trip will be offered to enjoy the sunset over the Padma (Ganges) River and explore the char village life by the Bangladesh – India border. Typical Kalairuti dinner at a local restaurant in Rajshahi town and overnight stay at Parjatan Motel.

Day 2:Â Temple city Puthia and Natore Rajbari
Leave the hotel after breakfast for Puthia, a charming town renowned for Bangladesh's many historically significant Hindu structures. The Shiva Temple in Puthia is the largest Hindu temple in Bangladesh. The Govinda Temple, decorated with intricate terracotta designs, is in one of the country's finest old Rajbari's courtyards.
Continue driving towards the ancient Bagha mosque through a beautiful landscape. It is a richly decorated brick-built ten domed mosque. The decoration of this mosque illustrates the delicate terracotta art of that period.  A lovely lunch will be prepared and served by a local family in Charghat inside a mango garden by the river. Drive back to Natore to visit Natore Rajbari and Uttara Gana Bhavan. Get back to the hotel before it is dark. Dinner at a local restaurant and overnight stay in Parjatan Motel Rajshahi.

Day 3: Morning Bazar, flea markets, Varendra Research Museum and silk industry
Maybe we can take the morning walk through the daily Bazar area before breakfast and take a late breakfast around 8 AM at Parjatan Motel and check out. Rajshahi is also known as the 'silk capital' of Bangladesh. Now we will invite you to visit a local silk production and watch the weaving, dyeing, block and batik painting of this exclusive natural fibre. This will be a guided trip through the entire process of silk fibre turning into a nice piece of cloth. You may get some souvenirs from their showroom, and they have lovely collections of local style clothes and plain silk fabrics for custom-tailoring. Maybe a quick visit to the Varendra Research Museum would be an exciting discovery of archaeology and the ancient history of Bengal. Drive to Rajshahi airport to avail an afternoon flight to Dhaka.

Great time in bangladesh

We were in Bangladesh during the festive season, after Xmas, and due to the elections we had to change our plans at the very last minute, but Jewel could arrange us a very interesting trip around the Country from North to South: Panam Nagar, the Char villages, Chittagong Shipbreak yard, Comilla and in the far North, the Tea plantations in Sreemangal. Both the guides and the driver were very helpful and safe driving.
And, on top of it all, we had the opportunity to visit an orphanage ruled by a very brave woman. What a wonderful time we had.
